Bánh Xèo
Close your eyes and feel the sizzling sound as you spread a thin layer of batter onto a hot pan. That's how we make the crispy shell of "Banh Xeo". "Xeo" is the sound created by the meeting of batter and the pan.
"Banh Xeo" is a creation of the Mekong Delta, widely enjoyed throughout South and Central Vietnam. Traditionally made from rice flour and coconut milk, it owes its yellowish hue to the addition of turmeric. The savoury pancake is typically filled with slices of boiled pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, and green beans.
A perfect "Banh Xeo" shouldn't be too soggy and is best enjoyed fresh off the skillet. At Met Restaurant, we serve "Banh Xeo" with typical Vietnamese vegetables and our special red sauce. The most interesting thing is that our staff will instruct you on how to use the rice paper and roll your own "Banh Xeo" according to your preference.
